In front of a crowd of 62,843 spectators, the Hokies demonstrated resilience and determination. The home team's defense was notable for sacking the opposing quarterback three times and recording six tackles for loss. They also managed to hit the quarterback three more times during the game. The defense further contributed by intercepting one pass and returning it seven yards for a touchdown.

On offense, Virginia Tech accumulated a total of 304 yards with an average gain of 4.6 yards per play from their 66 plays which included both passing and rushing attempts. The passing game saw them complete 15 out of 27 attempts for a total of 166 yards; however, they were unable to secure any touchdowns through the air and suffered one interception along with five sacks. Their ground attack was more fruitful as they rushed for two touchdowns over thirty-nine attempts totaling up to138 yards.

Special teams had moments worth noting too; notably one punt return that went all way back for an electrifying touchdown covering90 yards – this being one among seven punt returns that day which amassed188 return yards altogether.

The Hokies' kicking unit had mixed results as well; while they successfully made three out four extra point kicks (with one being blocked), their field goal attempt did not fare well without any successful conversions from their single attempt.

Penalties played somewhat significant role in this contest as well –the Hokies were penalized seven times resulting in55 penalty yards against them but it didn't cross thresholds where penalties would become major talking points post-game discussions.

Looking ahead after this narrow defeat at home ground next week sees Virginia Tech traveling to face Duke Blue Devils at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium located Durham on November12th scheduled kick-off time is5 PM Eastern Time Zone fans can catch action live on Regional Sports Networks (RSN).
