In an intense battle at Alumni Stadium, the Virginia Tech Hokies were unable to overcome the Boston College Eagles' defense. Despite their efforts, the Hokies managed only three points through a field goal while conceding seventeen to their opponents. The lone scoring highlight for Virginia Tech came from their kicker who successfully converted a field goal from 47 yards out.

The offensive unit for Virginia Tech struggled throughout the game, accumulating just 235 total yards compared to Boston College's more effective performance. The passing game was particularly stifled as they completed only seven out of seventeen attempts for a mere 73 yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, however, they fared slightly better with 162 rushing yards but still failed to find their way into the end zone.

Virginia Tech's defense did manage one interception during the contest but could not capitalize on it effectively. Additionally, they were disciplined in terms of penalties with only seven infractions costing them fifty-five yards throughout four quarters of play.

Special teams had mixed results; while punting was solid with an average net yardage of thirty-nine per punt and three landing inside Boston College's twenty-yard line, kickoff returns yielded seventy-eight yards without any significant breakthroughs that could have shifted momentum in favor of Virginia Tech.

Boston College capitalized on opportunities where Virginia Tech faltered. They opened up scoring early and maintained consistent pressure which resulted in two touchdowns and one field goal across different quarters. Their defense held strong against both passing and rushing attempts by Virginia Tech and kept them out of scoring range effectively throughout most of the game.

Looking ahead after this setback at Alumni Stadium, fans can anticipate seeing if Virginia Tech can bounce back when they host Duke Blue Devils at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg on November 13th at 8:30 PM local time (EST). This upcoming football encounter will be broadcasted live on ACC Network for supporters eager to watch their team compete once again on home turf.
