Virginia Tech Hokies Face Off Against Pittsburgh Panthers at Acrisure Stadium in Football Showdown

The Virginia Tech Hokies, with a record of 3-8, faced the Pittsburgh Panthers, standing at 9-4, in a game that ended with a score of 29-45. The Hokies put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell to the Panthers on their home turf.

At Acrisure Stadium, the Virginia Tech Hokies showcased their offensive capabilities by amassing 403 total yards against the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Hokies' passing game contributed significantly with quarterback throwing for 277 yards and achieving a passer rating of over 105. Despite being sacked three times, he managed to complete more than half of his passes including one for a touchdown that was also the longest pass play at 43 yards.


The rushing attack added another dimension to the offense as they accumulated 126 yards on the ground and scored two touchdowns. The longest run from scrimmage was an impressive dash of 29 yards while another rush resulted in an exciting touchdown from just inside twenty yards out.

Special teams had its moments too; although there were nine punting attempts totaling nearly three hundred yards, one punt was notably blocked by the defense which contributed to special teams' overall impact on field position. On kickoffs, six attempts covered over three hundred sixty-five yards with half resulting in touchbacks.


Defensively speaking, Virginia Tech managed to sack Pittsburgh's quarterback once and recorded six tackles for loss among seventy-one combined tackles. They also defended four passes effectively and intercepted one pass during the course of action.

Penalties seemed to be under control as only eight were called against them amounting to seventy-four penalty yards which did not critically hamper their gameplay. In terms of scoring efficiency within twenty-yard line territory or closer (red zone), they succeeded seventy-five percent of their attempts but could not convert any third-down conversions beyond twenty-five percent success rate.
