The Virginia Tech Hokies showcased their prowess on both sides of the ball. Offensively, quarterback Kyron Drones completed 15 out of 26 attempts for a total of 176 yards through the air including one touchdown pass and one interception. His performance was complemented by Bhayshul Tuten's impressive ground game; Tuten rushed for 115 yards on 21 carries and found the end zone twice.


On defense, Antwaun Powell-Ryland had an outstanding game with four sacks contributing to a total loss of 25 yards for Old Dominion and forced two fumbles, recovering one himself which highlighted his defensive capabilities. The team as a whole tallied five sacks and forced two fumbles against Old Dominion.


Special teams also played a crucial role in Virginia Tech's victory with John Love successfully converting three out of four field goal attempts with his longest being from 41 yards out.
