The Cougars have had a mixed bag of performances leading up to this game. A look back at their December 17 encounter with Fresno State reveals some concerns, particularly on offense. The Cougars managed only 6 points against Fresno State's 29, with a total yardage of just 182 and an average gain per play standing at a meager 3 yards. Their passing game struggled as well, averaging only about 4 yards per attempt and failing to score any touchdowns through the air.

However, it wasn't all doom and gloom for WST; their defense put up a respectable show with four sacks and six tackles for loss. This defensive resilience will be crucial when they go head-to-head with CSU.

On November 27 against the Washington Huskies, despite losing by a significant margin (33-51), there were flashes of brilliance from WST's offense which racked up an impressive total of 433 yards. Their red zone efficiency was perfect that day – scoring on every trip inside the opponent's twenty-yard line – which is an encouraging sign for their upcoming game.

Most promising was their performance on November 19 against Arizona Wildcats where they emerged victorious with a scoreline of 31-20 in favor of WST. The defense shone brightly once again with four interceptions - one returned for a touchdown - and two sacks. Offensively they were solid too; rushing for over four yards per carry and achieving perfect red zone efficiency yet again.

The key takeaway here is consistency in execution on both sides of the ball will be critical for WST if they want to secure victory over CSU. The defense seems capable enough to disrupt CSU's offensive rhythm but it will ultimately come down to whether or not WST’s offense can capitalize on opportunities presented by their defensive counterparts.

WST fans should expect an intense matchup where every possession could swing momentum either way. With recent performances taken into account, it would not be surprising if this contest leans heavily towards being defensively fought by both teams – possibly making each red zone appearance pivotal in determining the victor.

Mark your calendars! The showdown between Washington State Cougars and Colorado State Rams is scheduled for September 2nd at Sonny Lubick Field at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, CO starting at 5:00 PM local time (7:00 PM ET). Fans won’t want to miss out on what promises to be an exciting matchup broadcasted live on CBS Sports Network via satellite channel number 221.
