First Quarter

The game kicked off with the Mountaineers taking an early lead. Jahiem White's impressive 32-yard rushing touchdown set the tone for WVU, putting them ahead 7-3 by the end of the first quarter. Kade Hensley contributed to this lead with a successful extra point kick.

Second Quarter

However, momentum shifted in favor of Ohio during the second quarter. The Bobcats capitalized on their opportunities and scored two touchdowns, turning their deficit into a commanding lead by halftime. Despite WVU's defensive efforts, including interceptions from Darrian Lewis and Ben Cutter, they were unable to prevent Ohio from scoring twice.

Third Quarter

In response to Ohio's offensive surge, WVU managed to narrow the gap slightly in the third quarter thanks to Hensley's accurate field goal from 38 yards out. The defense continued its strong performance with Chase Wilson recording two sacks and Fred Perry adding another sack to his name.

Fourth Quarter

The final period saw both defenses tightening up as neither team managed to score any points. The Mountaineers' defense remained resilient throughout, highlighted by Kekoura Tarnue forcing a fumble and Oliver Straw averaging over 41 yards per punt across eight attempts.

Despite their valiant defensive display and key moments like White’s touchdown run and multiple interceptions, WVU fell short against an efficient Bobcat offense that made crucial plays when it mattered most.

Looking ahead, fans can catch West Virginia Mountaineers' next game against Pittsburgh Panthers on September 13th at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM EDT and will be broadcasted live on ESPN.
