First Quarter

The game began with the Mountaineers taking an early lead. Kade Hensley successfully converted a field goal attempt from 29 yards out, putting WVU on the scoreboard first. The defense held strong and kept the Sun Devils scoreless throughout this period.

Second Quarter

Arizona State responded fiercely in the second quarter. They managed to rack up 22 points through strategic plays and capitalizing on WVU's defensive lapses. Despite Scotty Fox Jr.'s efforts in leading his team downfield for a touchdown pass to Cyncir Bowers, WVU found themselves trailing significantly by halftime.

Third Quarter

Both teams struggled offensively during the third quarter as neither side managed to add any points to their tally. The Eers' defense showed resilience by forcing three-and-outs and maintaining pressure on ASU's quarterback.

Fourth Quarter

In an exciting turn of events during the fourth quarter, WVU mounted a comeback attempt led by Scotty Fox Jr., who threw for another touchdown pass—this time connecting with Jeff Weimer for an impressive 75-yard play. Curtis Jones Jr.'s rushing touchdown further closed the gap between them and ASU; however, it was not enough as time ran out before they could overtake their opponents.

The post-game report West Virginia Mountaineers highlighted key performances such as John Lewis achieving one sack and Fred Perry recovering a fumble that contributed defensively throughout this matchup against Arizona State University’s formidable lineup.
