Falcons' Flight Falls Short Against Spartans in Close Encounter

The Air Force Falcons, with a record of 0-0, faced off against the San Jose State Spartans at the Provident Credit Union Event Center. In a game that saw multiple lead changes and ties, it was the Spartans who ultimately secured victory with a final score of 73-66.

The Falcons started strong, leading at halftime with 34 points to the Spartans' 31. However, despite maintaining their offensive momentum and adding another 32 points in the second half, they could not keep up with the home team's surge of 42 points after intermission. The Falcons showcased resilience throughout but were unable to clinch a win.


Air Force's performance was marked by solid shooting from both inside and beyond the arc. They made half of their two-point attempts and shot at a respectable rate from three-point range with an accuracy of 36 percent. From the charity stripe, they managed to convert 69 percent of their free throws into points.


The team also demonstrated commendable ball distribution with a total of 13 assists but struggled slightly on turnovers with twelve instances that gave possession away. Despite this challenge, they managed an assist-to-turnover ratio above one (1.18). On defense, however, Air Force recorded five steals but failed to block any shots during gameplay.


In terms of rebounding efforts for Air Force Falcons were balanced between offense and defense as they grabbed a total of 28 rebounds—11 offensive and 17 defensive ones—contributing significantly to second-chance opportunities which resulted in eight additional points for them.


One area where Air Force excelled was capitalizing on turnovers; although only generating five points from these chances compared to San Jose State's sixteen. The Falcons also showed restraint in committing fouls but had one player foul out during the contest.
