Crimson Tide Rides Wave of Three-Pointers to Drown Gamecocks 74-47

The Alabama Crimson Tide improved their season record with a decisive victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks, ending the contest with a scoreline of 74-47. The home team's performance at Coleman Coliseum was marked by an impressive offensive display, while the visiting Gamecocks struggled to keep pace.

The Crimson Tide set the tone early in the game, establishing a narrow lead by halftime with 30 points against South Carolina's 29. However, it was in the second half that Alabama truly dominated, nearly doubling their point tally and restricting their opponents to just 18 additional points. The home team's defense proved formidable, as evidenced by their four blocks and ten steals throughout the game.

Alabama's offense was firing on all cylinders as they shot an impressive 48 percent from field goal range and an even more remarkable 44 percent from beyond the arc. Their three-point shooting was particularly lethal; they sank fifteen shots from downtown out of thirty-four attempts. This long-range barrage contributed significantly to their total score and showcased their ability to spread out South Carolina's defense.

On top of that, Alabama demonstrated efficient ball movement with fifteen assists leading to scores. They also capitalized on turnovers better than South Carolina did, scoring seventeen points off turnovers compared to ten by the Gamecocks. Additionally, Alabama showed strength under both baskets with thirty-six total rebounds—twenty-six defensive and six offensive—and fifteen second-chance points.

South Carolina had a tough time finding their rhythm offensively throughout the night at Coleman Coliseum. They managed only forty-seven points against a staunch Crimson Tide defense that limited them to a mere thirty-one percent shooting from field goals and twenty percent from three-point range.

Despite being able to draw fouls effectively—evidenced by an eighty-nine percent free throw completion rate—the Gamecocks couldn't overcome Alabama’s aggressive playstyle or match up against its scoring depth. With only eight assists on record for South Carolina compared to fifteen for Alabama, it became clear which team had superior control over ball distribution during this conference game.

Looking ahead after this commanding performance at home in Tuscaloosa before an audience of over ten thousand fans, the Crimson Tide will next face off against Mississippi State Bulldogs at Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville on January 13th at 7:30 PM Central Time.
