The Alabama Crimson Tide, ranked 14th, faced off against the 4th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers in a conference game that ended with the scoreboard reading 81-74. The Crimson Tide now stand with an additional loss to their record, while the Volunteers added another victory.
At Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, home of the Crimson Tide, fans witnessed a competitive matchup. The first half concluded with Alabama ahead at 41-39. However, despite a strong start and leading by two points after the initial half, Alabama could not maintain their momentum into the second half.
Alabama's performance was marked by solid shooting from inside the arc where they made 61 percent of their two-point attempts. They also excelled at free throws with an impressive accuracy rate of 76 percent. The team's total rebound count stood at 44 with defensive rebounds accounting for 30 and offensive rebounds making up another ten.
The Volunteers managed to edge out Alabama primarily in three-point shooting where they hit twelve out of forty attempts translating to a success rate of thirty percent from beyond the arc. Their defense was notable as well; they blocked four shots and recorded seven steals over the course of play.
One area where Alabama struggled was turnovers; they gave up possession twelve times which translated into nine points for Tennessee off those turnovers. In contrast, Tennessee capitalized on their ball handling better by only turning it over six times and scoring seventeen points off turnovers made by Alabama.
Despite these challenges, Alabama did showcase some bright spots during playtime such as recording more assists than Tennessee with sixteen compared to fourteen for their opponents and securing more total rebounds than them as well (44 vs. 42).
