The game was marked by intense defensive efforts from both sides. The Arizona State Sun Devils showcased their defensive capabilities by accumulating 14 steals and blocking three shots. Their offense was fueled by converting 54 percent of their two-point attempts and scoring 26 points in the paint, which played a crucial role in their narrow victory.

Arizona State's performance from beyond the arc left room for improvement as they made only five out of 26 three-point attempts, translating to a mere 19 percent success rate. However, they compensated for this with aggressive play that led to scoring 22 points off turnovers and adding another ten through fast breaks.

The team's rebounding effort was solid with a total of 34 rebounds; however, it was overshadowed by Colorado's impressive haul of 47 rebounds. Despite this disadvantage on the boards, Arizona State maintained composure and managed to keep personal fouls to twenty without any player being ejected or fouled out.

On offense, assists were distributed effectively among the Sun Devils players leading to sixteen successful plays directly resulting from teamwork. This collaborative effort helped maintain an assist-turnover ratio of about two.

Turning attention towards Colorado Buffaloes' performance, they demonstrated resilience especially during the first half where they put up thirty-eight points compared to twenty-three by Arizona State. Their defense blocked six shots but could only manage five steals throughout the game.

The Buffaloes had better accuracy from long range hitting ten out of twenty-six three-pointers which equates to approximately thirty-nine percent accuracy. However, turnovers proved costly for them as they gave away possession twenty times compared to ten by Arizona State.

As both teams fought hard on court leading up to six lead changes and tying twice during playtime; it ultimately came down to execution under pressure where Arizona State held their nerve better securing those crucial final points for victory.
