Sun Devils' Fast Breaks Not Enough Against Buffaloes' Precision at CU Events Center

In a conference game that saw the Arizona State Sun Devils fall to the Colorado Buffaloes, both teams displayed significant effort on the court. The Sun Devils, with a record of 0-0 before this match, scored 70 against the Buffaloes' 82. The first half ended with Arizona State trailing by nine points and despite matching their first-half output in the second, they could not overcome Colorado's lead.

Colorado Buffaloes VS Arizona State Sun Devils

The Arizona State Sun Devils showed commendable offensive tactics with fast break points totaling 22 and an impressive performance in the paint where they scored 40 of their total points. Their two-point shooting was efficient at a rate of 51 percent from within the arc. However, their three-point attempts fell short at just 32 percent success rate.

Defensively, Arizona State managed to block two shots and came away with eight steals during the game. They were also disciplined in terms of turnovers, committing only nine compared to Colorado's thirteen. Despite this effort on defense and having an assists turnover ratio of 1.56, it wasn't enough to secure victory.

The team's free throw performance was below par as they made only nine out of fourteen attempts which translates to a mere 64 percent completion rate – a statistic that may have cost them dearly in such a close contest.

On the other side of the court, Colorado showcased remarkable accuracy from both field goal range (47 percent) and beyond the arc (40 percent). Their free throw precision was particularly notable as they capitalized on these opportunities scoring at an exceptional rate of 90 percent.

Arizona State fought hard throughout but ultimately could not keep up with Colorado's balanced attack which featured both inside scoring (26 points) and perimeter shooting prowess. The Buffaloes also outrebounded Arizona State significantly by securing thirty-seven rebounds over twenty-nine for ASU – including five more defensive rebounds than ASU’s total defensive rebounds which stood at twenty-two.

Looking ahead for fans of Arizona State Sun Devils basketball: ASU will be visiting Utah Utes at Jon M. Huntsman Center located in Salt Lake City on February 10th for their next game scheduled to start at around six o'clock local time (Mountain Time Zone). This upcoming match will be broadcasted nationally on ESPN2 channel number two hundred nine for those who wish to follow along live.
