Baylor Bears Outshine West Virginia Mountaineers in High-Scoring Affair at WVU Coliseum

The Baylor Bears, ranked 12th, secured a commanding victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers with a final score of 94-81. The Bears now boast an impressive record, while the Mountaineers' performance this season has been less consistent. The clash at the WVU Coliseum saw the Bears outperform their opponents in both halves, posting 42 and 52 points respectively.

The Baylor offense was firing on all cylinders as they shot an efficient 54 percent from the field and an impressive 75 percent on two-point attempts. Their prowess from beyond the arc was also notable with a solid 38 percent shooting, contributing to their total tally of twelve three-pointers made. Free throws were another area where Baylor excelled, sinking 22 out of their 30 attempts for a commendable free throw percentage of around 73.


Defensively, Baylor maintained pressure throughout the game which is evident from their eleven steals and four blocks. This aggressive defense led to twenty points off turnovers for the Bears. They also capitalized on second-chance opportunities by scoring twenty-two second-chance points.

On top of that, ball distribution was key for Baylor's success; they racked up nineteen assists which contributed to their high assist-to-turnover ratio of approximately 2.71. Rebounding was fairly even between both teams with Baylor grabbing twenty-seven boards – eighteen defensive and nine offensive rebounds.


The West Virginia Mountaineers put up a valiant effort despite falling short in this conference game showdown. They managed to shoot slightly better than fifty-three percent from field goal range and were successful on forty-two percent of their three-point shots resulting in eight made threes.

West Virginia's efforts inside painted them favorably as they scored thirty-six points in paint compared to thirty by Baylor but struggled with turnovers committing fourteen against eight by the Bears which proved costly given how closely contested some aspects of this matchup were.
