The game, held at Memphis' FedExForum, saw the Baylor Bears putting up a resilient fight but ultimately falling short against an unranked Clemson team. Despite trailing with only 25 points in the first half compared to Clemson's 35, Baylor managed to ramp up their performance in the second half by adding 39 points to their tally. However, this surge was not enough to overcome Clemson's consistent scoring which added another 37 points after halftime.

Baylor's efforts were evident in their statistics; they outrebounded Clemson with a total of 33 rebounds and led in offensive rebounds by securing eight compared to Clemson's three. They also showcased defensive tenacity with eight steals and two blocks throughout the game. In terms of scoring within paint, Baylor edged out with 30 points versus Clemson’s 22.

However, shooting accuracy proved problematic for Baylor as they struggled from beyond the arc hitting only six out of twenty-four three-point attempts resulting in a mere twenty-five percent success rate. Their free throw performance also lagged behind at sixty-two percent from twenty-six attempts.

On offense, despite having fewer assists than their opponents (seven for Baylor against sixteen for Clemson), they managed one more point off turnovers than them (13-12). Yet it was not enough as they fell short on overall field goal percentage; making just thirty-nine percent of their shots compared to forty-nine percent by the Tigers.

Clemson capitalized on their shooting efficiency from both close range and distance; converting fifty-seven percent of two-pointers and thirty-five percent from three-point land. Their free throw accuracy was particularly impressive as they made eighty-three percent of shots taken from the line.

As time expired at FedExForum that evening around nine o'clock CT zone time frame without any lead changes or ties during play – it became clear that despite a valiant effort by Baylor University Bears – victory belonged to Clemson this round.
