BYU's offense was firing on all cylinders as they shot 48 percent from the field and an impressive 63 percent from two-point range. Their scoring was balanced with a strong first half where they put up 38 points followed by an even more productive second half adding another 48 points to their total. The team's three-point shooting contributed significantly to their scoreline, making 13 out of 36 attempts which translated into a solid 36 percent success rate.

Defensively, the Cougars matched the Mountaineers with each team recording four steals. However, BYU managed to edge out in blocks with four compared to West Virginia's two. This defensive effort helped contain the Mountaineers' scoring opportunities and played a crucial role in maintaining BYU's lead.

The Cougars also demonstrated excellent teamwork with a total of 19 assists contributing to many key plays throughout the game. They were disciplined as well, committing only eight turnovers while forcing nine from West Virginia. This careful ball handling resulted in an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.38 for BYU.

Rebounding was another area where BYU excelled; they grabbed a total of 35 rebounds – nine offensive and twenty-six defensive – matching West Virginia’s rebounding efforts but surpassing them in terms of converting those rebounds into points.
