Can BYU Cougars Ride Their Offensive Wave at Gallagher-Iba Arena?

The Brigham Young University Cougars are riding a high tide of offensive prowess, and fans are eager to see if this wave will continue to swell as they face the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The upcoming clash on February 17 is set to be a showcase of the Cougars' scoring capabilities, which have been nothing short of impressive in recent outings.

In their last game on December 23 against Bellarmine Knights, the Cougars dominated with a staggering 101 points, converting an incredible 80 percent from two-point range and maintaining a solid 41 percent from beyond the arc. This offensive clinic was complemented by an equally impressive defensive performance that saw them rack up seven steals and five blocks while limiting their turnovers to just nine.

Earlier games reflect this trend as well; on December 17, BYU faced off against Georgia State Panthers and secured an emphatic victory with 86 points. Their three-point shooting hovered around the 40 percent mark again, showcasing consistency in their long-range efforts. The team's ability to maintain possession was highlighted by a mere four turnovers for the entire game—a testament to their disciplined play.

Even when challenged by Denver Pioneers on December 14, BYU stood firm with another high-scoring game of 90 points. They maintained remarkable efficiency inside with a two-point field goal percentage of 71 percent while also capitalizing on second-chance opportunities by notching up 16 points in that category alone.

The common thread in these performances is clear: BYU's offense is firing on all cylinders. With such high shooting percentages across multiple games and an assist-to-turnover ratio that would make any coach proud, it's hard not to be optimistic about their chances against OKST.

However, it would be remiss not to acknowledge the challenge posed by Oklahoma State Cowboys. Playing at home could provide them with enough momentum to disrupt BYU's rhythm. But given recent performances, it seems likely that BYU’s depth and sharpshooting will prove too much for OKST’s defense.

As we look ahead toward what promises to be an exciting encounter between these two teams, Cougar fans should feel confident yet cautious—knowing full well that every game writes its own story regardless of past glories or struggles.

For those wanting to catch every dribble and dunk live from Stillwater can tune into ESPN+ at precisely noon local time (2 PM Eastern Time) on February 17th for what promises to be another thrilling chapter in this season's college basketball saga.
