The game was a showcase of skill and determination from both teams. The BYU Cougars demonstrated their prowess on both ends of the court with significant contributions from several players. Richie Saunders led all scorers with an impressive 25 points, shooting 56 percent from the field and perfect from the free-throw line. His performance was complemented by Egor Demin's all-around game; Demin tallied 11 points alongside eight assists and rebounds each, showcasing his versatility.

Despite these standout performances and maintaining a lead through most of the game thanks to their effective field goal percentage of 58 percent and converting at a high rate inside (70 percent at rim), turnovers proved costly for BYU in critical moments.

On Wisconsin’s side, resilience was key as they overcame a halftime deficit by tightening defense and capitalizing on scoring opportunities in paint where they scored 28 points. Their comeback was fueled by efficient free throw shooting (79 percent) and controlling turnovers better than their counterparts.
