At Haas Pavilion, home of the California Golden Bears, fans witnessed an intense conference game filled with lead changes and ties. Despite a valiant effort from the home team, it was the Sun Devils who emerged victorious by a slim margin. The game saw six lead changes and was tied three times, indicating just how evenly matched these two teams were throughout the contest.

The California Golden Bears showcased their offensive capabilities by shooting 54 percent from inside the arc and converting 82 percent of their free throws. However, they struggled beyond the three-point line, making only five out of 27 attempts for an 18 percent success rate. On defense, they managed to block four shots and steal possession eight times from their opponents.

One area where the Golden Bears excelled was on rebounds; they outperformed Arizona State by securing 45 rebounds to their opponent's 35. This included seven offensive boards which contributed to nine second-chance points for California. Their defensive efforts were also notable as they collected more defensive rebounds than Arizona State.

In terms of ball distribution and teamwork, California recorded twelve assists over Arizona State's three but also turned over possession fifteen times compared to twelve by their opponents. The assists-to-turnover ratio for California stood at 0.8.

Despite these efforts, it was not enough as Arizona State capitalized on turnovers scoring eighteen points off them and showed strength in fast-break situations with thirteen fast-break points against fourteen by California. Shooting accuracy from distance proved pivotal as well; despite fewer attempts (31), Arizona State made ten three-pointers at a rate of 32 percent.

As both teams exhausted all timeouts in this nail-biting encounter that saw neither side able to pull away decisively until late in regulation time when critical plays determined the outcome favoring visitors who left Berkeley with a narrow win under their belt.

Looking ahead after this tough loss at home, fans can catch up with future action when 'the' California Golden Bears travel south to face 'the' USC Trojans at Galen Center located in Los Angeles on January 3rd at 7:00 PM Pacific Time broadcasted live on Pac-12 Network.
