In a closely contested match at JSerra Pavilion, the California Golden Bears displayed a resilient performance but ultimately fell short against the San Diego State Aztecs. The game saw several lead changes and was tied seven times, indicating how competitive it was from start to finish.

The California Golden Bears started strong with an impressive first half, scoring 34 points. However, they struggled to maintain this momentum in the second half, adding only 29 points to their tally. In overtime, they managed just four additional points. Despite these challenges, the team showed notable efforts on both ends of the court.

Offensively, the Golden Bears made 23 field goals out of a total of 72 attempts resulting in a field goal percentage of approximately 32 percent for the game. From beyond the arc, they attempted 38 three-pointers and succeeded in making nine shots which translates to roughly a 24 percent success rate from three-point range. At close range within two-point territory, they had an approximate success rate of 41 percent with fourteen baskets made out of thirty-four attempts.

On defense and rebounding fronts were areas where California excelled during this encounter; they amassed an impressive total rebound count of fifty-two with twenty offensive rebounds contributing significantly to second-chance opportunities that yielded eight points for them. Their defensive efforts also led them to secure thirty-one defensive rebounds throughout this contest.

However, turnovers proved costly for California as they committed fourteen turnovers which allowed San Diego State to capitalize by scoring fifteen points off these errors. Additionally, personal fouls were another area where discipline waned for California as they committed twenty-six fouls over the course of play compared with fifteen by their opponents.

The opposing team's performance was marked by efficiency from both field goal range and free throw line; San Diego State achieved approximately thirty-five percent shooting accuracy from field goals and an impressive eighty-four percent free throw shooting accuracy which contributed significantly towards their victory margin as well as ten fast break points that added pressure on California's defense throughout this matchup.
