In a display of competitive sportsmanship at Pauley Pavilion, the California Golden Bears secured a hard-fought victory over their hosts, the UCLA Bruins. The game was marked by intense defensive plays and strategic offense from both sides.

The Golden Bears showcased their resilience on defense throughout the game. Despite not registering any blocks, they managed to keep pressure on their opponents, which was reflected in their six steals and 20 personal fouls. Their defensive efforts were further bolstered by securing 39 total rebounds, including 24 defensive and 11 offensive rebounds.

Offensively, the team's performance was equally impressive. They achieved a field goal percentage of 40 percent by making 23 out of 58 attempts and were particularly effective from beyond the arc with an identical three-point shooting percentage. Free throws were also a strong point for the team as they made 12 out of 16 attempts, translating to an impressive free throw percentage of around three-quarters.

Key players stepped up for California when it mattered most; points in paint contributed significantly to their scoring tally with a total of 20 points. Moreover, they capitalized on turnovers by adding another vital set of points off turnovers.

On the other side of the court, despite being outscored overall, UCLA put up notable numbers as well. They had five blocks compared to none from California and managed eight steals during playtime. Their two-point shooting accuracy stood higher than that of California at nearly half successful shots made but struggled from long range with only two successful three-pointers out of ten attempts – yielding just around one-fifth success rate.

The Bruins also saw less success at free throws making approximately two-thirds compared to California's higher rate but showed strength inside with more points in paint than their opponents did.

As fans look forward to future matchups after this conference game showdown between these storied rivals where no lead changes or ties occurred throughout playtime – attention turns towards what lies ahead for both teams as they continue through this season's schedule.

Looking forward after tonight's performance under Los Angeles lights where attendance numbered over seven thousand spectators; fans can catch next action involving University Of California Berkeley when they face Colorado Buffaloes back home at Haas Pavilion located in Berkeley on January tenth scheduled for nine o'clock PM Pacific Time broadcasted nationally via ESPNU channel two hundred eight.
