The Cincinnati team's performance was marked by a robust defense and an aggressive offense. They outrebounded their opponents with a total of 49 rebounds compared to the Jayhawks' 38. Of these, an impressive number were on the offensive glass, where they grabbed 14 rebounds leading to crucial second-chance points that tallied up to 18 for the game.

Their three-point shooting was also notable as they made nine out of their twenty-six attempts, resulting in a three-point shooting percentage of about thirty-five percent. Free throws were another area where Cincinnati excelled; they made seven out of nine free throw attempts which translates into seventy-eight percent accuracy from the line.

A key aspect of Cincinnati's gameplay was their ability to capitalize on turnovers by scoring seventeen points off them while only giving up eight points on turnovers themselves. This tenacity also showed in fast-break situations where they scored eight fast-break points.

Defensively, Cincinnati blocked four shots and came away with six steals which contributed significantly to disrupting Kansas' offensive flow. The defensive effort limited Kansas to just fifty-two points for the entire game and held them to a mere fifteen percent from beyond the arc.
