Can the Buffaloes Bounce Back After Wildcats' Dominant 99-79 Victory at CU Events Center?

The Colorado Buffaloes faced a challenging contest against the Arizona Wildcats, with both teams demonstrating their competitive spirit in a game that ended 99-79 in favor of the visitors. The Wildcats, ranked 8th nationally, improved their record to an impressive mark while the Buffaloes struggled to add a win to their tally.

Despite trailing by seven points at halftime with a score of 47-40, they could not overcome the deficit in the second half, adding only 39 points compared to Arizona's robust addition of 52 points.


The Colorado team showcased some notable performances on court. They outshined Arizona in free throw accuracy with an excellent completion rate of eighty-five percent and also led in fast break points with twenty. Their defensive efforts were highlighted by six blocks throughout the game and they managed to keep turnovers lower than their opponents with sixteen instances.


However, it was not enough against Arizona's strong offensive play. The Wildcats capitalized on every opportunity given by Colorado's defense. They scored twenty-three points off turnovers and had ten steals contributing significantly to their victory margin. With fifty-six percent shooting from two-point range and forty-six percent from beyond the arc compared to Colorado's fifty-seven percent and twenty-nine percent respectively, Arizona maintained consistent pressure on offense.


Arizona also dominated inside scoring forty-four points in paint while securing thirty-three rebounds which gave them additional second-chance opportunities leading them to score twenty-three second-chance points. Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at a solid 1.75 showcasing better ball management over Colorado’s ratio of just 0.75.


Looking ahead for the Buffaloes, they will be visiting Los Angeles for their next challenge against UCLA Bruins at Pauley Pavilion scheduled for February fifteen at six PM Pacific Time.
