The game unfolded with an intense first half as both teams battled fiercely. The Rams put up an impressive fight initially, scoring 44 points before halftime. However, their momentum waned in the second half where they could only add another 11 points to their tally. Despite this setback, several players made notable contributions; notably, they managed to secure nine steals and three blocks throughout the game.

The Colorado State team's shooting accuracy was below expectations; they achieved a field goal percentage of just 36 percent and were successful on only eight out of 25 attempts from beyond the arc – translating to a three-point shooting percentage of 32 percent. From two-point range, they made just under forty percent of their shots (39 percent). At the free-throw line, however, they fared better with a respectable completion rate of sixty-nine percent.

Rebounding was another area where Colorado State struggled against San Diego State's robust presence inside. The Rams gathered twenty-four total rebounds – eighteen defensive and four offensive – while also giving up six points off turnovers and scoring twenty points in paint themselves.

On offense, Colorado State distributed twelve assists but turned over possession thirteen times which resulted in an assist-turnover ratio slightly below one (0.92). Their efforts led them to score six second-chance points but ultimately fell short against San Diego State's more efficient play.

The Aztecs capitalized on their opportunities by making fifty-one percent of their two-point attempts and forty-four percent overall from field goals. They also outperformed Colorado State from both free throw line (seventy-two percent) and rebounding department with forty-six total rebounds including thirty defensive boards which contributed significantly to maintaining control over game flow.

San Diego State displayed strong defense by accumulating five blocks compared to three by Colorado state while committing fewer personal fouls (17 vs CSU’s 22). They also took advantage offensively from turnovers more effectively than CSU did by scoring fourteen points off turnovers compared to six by Rams.

Looking ahead after this challenging encounter at Viejas Arena for fans following Colorado state basketball team is another opportunity for redemption as they host Utah state Aggies at Moby Arena located in Fort Collins on February seventeenth at fifteen-thirty local time broadcasted nationally on CBS Sports Network channel two hundred twenty-one.
