Rams' Rally Falls Short at Thomas & Mack, UNLV Holds On 66-60

In a closely contested conference game at the Thomas & Mack Center, the Colorado State Rams faced off against the UNLV Runnin' Rebels. The Rams entered with a rank of 22 and an aggressive game plan but ultimately fell short with a final score of 60-66. The Colorado State Rams showcased their tenacity throughout the match, yet despite their efforts, they couldn't clinch victory against their unranked opponents.

Colorado State Rams VS UNLV Rebels

The first half saw the Rams put up 26 points to UNLV's 24 in what appeared to be an evenly matched battle. However, as play resumed after halftime, it was evident that both teams were eager to take control. The second half intensified as each team fought hard on the court; however, it was here that UNLV outscored CSU by racking up an additional 42 points compared to CSU's improved effort of 34 points.

Colorado State's performance was marked by solid teamwork and execution on offense. They recorded a total of 17 assists and managed to convert half of their two-point attempts into scores. Their defense also contributed with seven steals and two blocks during the game. Despite these efforts, shooting from beyond the arc proved challenging for CSU as they made only six out of twenty-four three-point attempts – a mere twenty-five percent success rate.

The Rams demonstrated resilience in rebounding with twenty defensive boards contributing to a total rebound count of twenty-eight. However, this paled in comparison to UNLV's more dominant thirty-seven rebounds which included eight offensive ones that provided crucial second-chance opportunities.

Foul trouble seemed to plague both teams; Colorado State accumulated twenty personal fouls leading to one player being fouled out while UNLV committed fourteen fouls themselves. Free throw accuracy also played a pivotal role where CSU shot sixty-seven percent from the line whereas UNLV capitalized on this aspect by achieving an impressive eighty-four percent free throw rate.

As fans look ahead after this tough loss on foreign hardwoods, they can find solace in knowing that Colorado State will soon return home for another chance at victory when they host Nevada Wolf Pack at Moby Arena in Fort Collins on February 27th at 7:30 PM local time (Mountain Time). This upcoming matchup promises another exciting chapter for Ram fans who can catch all live action broadcasted on Fox Sports 1.
