The game started off slow for the Colorado State team, managing only 11 points in the first half compared to the Longhorns' 27. However, they showed resilience and determination by scoring 33 points in the second half. Unfortunately, this was not enough to close the gap as Texas maintained their lead with an additional 29 points after halftime.

Colorado State's shooting was below their usual standard; they finished with a field goal percentage of just 29 percent from an attempted total of 58 shots. From beyond the arc, they managed to convert six out of twenty-four attempts resulting in a three-point shooting percentage of 25 percent. In contrast, Texas showcased more efficient scoring with forty field goals made out of fifty-five attempts leading them to finish at forty percent overall shooting efficiency. Their two-point shot conversion stood out at fifty-one percent accuracy from forty-one attempts which significantly contributed to their win along with thirty points scored inside paint.
