Colorado State Rams Encounter Setback Against New Mexico Lobos at The Pit

In a conference game that saw the Colorado State Rams face off against the New Mexico Lobos at The Pit in Albuquerque, the outcome was not in favor of the visiting team. The Rams, with their season record now standing at 0-1, were unable to secure a win against the Lobos, who improved their record to 1-0. The final score of 65-87 reflects a game where both teams fought hard but ultimately saw the home team prevail.

Rams' Efforts and Standout Performances

Despite falling short in points, several players from Colorado State showed commendable performances on court. Rashaan Mbemba led his team with an impressive tally of 17 points, showcasing his scoring ability by converting 60 percent of his field goals and securing three rebounds along with one block and one steal. Kyan Evans also made significant contributions by adding 15 points to the scoreboard for the Rams and grabbing four rebounds.

Nique Clifford demonstrated versatility by filling up multiple columns on the stat sheet; he scored nine points, dished out five assists, and pulled down ten rebounds. His all-around performance was critical for Colorado State throughout the game.

Lobos' Dominance

On the other side of the court, New Mexico's offense proved too much for Colorado State to handle. The Lobos shot an efficient 54 percent from field goals and an impressive 64 percent from beyond the arc. Their defensive efforts were equally notable as they managed seven blocks compared to Colorado State's two and outrebounded their opponents with a total of 35 rebounds.

The home team capitalized on turnovers as well, scoring 17 points off turnovers while limiting their own mistakes throughout both halves. This disciplined play combined with effective shooting contributed significantly to their victory margin.

Looking ahead, Colorado State will aim to bounce back when they host San Diego State Aztecs at Moby Arena in Fort Collins on February 8th at 10:00 PM EDT. Fans can catch this upcoming match live on CBS Sports Network as both teams strive for supremacy in what promises to be an engaging contest.
