The Dean Smith Center was buzzing with excitement as the Duke Blue Devils took on their storied rivals, the North Carolina Tar Heels. Despite a valiant effort, Duke could not overcome North Carolina's dynamic play. The Blue Devils showcased their offensive capabilities by shooting an impressive 51 percent from the field and converting 60 percent of their two-point attempts. Their prowess in scoring was particularly evident in the paint where they amassed a dominant 54 points.

Duke's performance from beyond the arc left room for improvement as they made only five out of nineteen three-point attempts, translating to just 26 percent accuracy. However, they excelled at free throws, sinking nine out of eleven shots for an exceptional 82 percent completion rate.

On defense, Duke managed to block three shots and came away with four steals but struggled to contain North Carolina's fast-paced offense which scored sixteen fast break points. The rebounding battle was nearly even with Duke grabbing thirty-four boards compared to North Carolina's thirty-five.

One area where Duke notably struggled was turnovers; they committed eleven in total which led to seven points for North Carolina off those turnovers. In contrast, assists were hard to come by for Duke as they only tallied eight throughout the game resulting in an assists turnover ratio below one (0.8).

The Tar Heels capitalized on their opportunities by making nine out of twenty-four three-pointers (38 percent) and earning nineteen points off turnovers thanks to their aggressive defense that produced nine steals. They also distributed the ball effectively with nineteen assists contributing significantly towards maintaining control over the game flow.

As both teams fought hard on court, it became clear that every possession would count in this high-stakes conference game which saw only one lead change and was tied three times throughout its duration.

Looking ahead, fans can catch the next action-packed home game for Duke against Notre Dame Fighting Irish scheduled on February 7th at Cameron Indoor Stadium located in Durham NC; tip-off is set for 9:00 PM Eastern Time and will be broadcasted nationally on ACC Network channel number six hundred twelve.
