Florida Atlantic Owls Secure Victory at FAU Arena Against Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Men's Basketball

The Florida Atlantic Owls, ranked 21st, faced off against the unranked Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at FAU Arena. The Owls emerged victorious with a final score of 70-63, maintaining their impressive season record of 21-1. The Hilltoppers now stand at a record of 13-9.

In an intense conference game that saw six lead changes and was tied three times, the Florida Atlantic Owls managed to secure a win on their home court in front of a crowd of 3,012 spectators. The first half ended with both teams locked at 35 points each, but it was the second half where the Owls pulled away to ensure their triumph.


The Owls showcased a balanced attack throughout the game. Their shooting from beyond the arc was notable as they made 13 out of 38 three-point attempts, translating to a solid three-point percentage of 34 percent. Inside the paint, they added another 20 points to their tally. On defense, they were able to block two shots and steal the ball five times from their opponents.


Player turnovers for both teams were relatively high; however, it was the assist-to-turnover ratio where Florida Atlantic demonstrated better control and teamwork with an impressive ratio of about one. They also outrebounded Western Kentucky by six rebounds overall which contributed significantly to their victory.


On offense for Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, field goal percentage stood at approximately 37 percent as they made only two out of thirteen attempts from three-point range – showing difficulty in long-range shooting with just about fifteen percent accuracy. Despite this challenge from distance, they managed to score twenty-eight points in paint and secured eight second-chance points.
