Panthers Claw Back to Edge Hilltoppers in a Nail-Biter at Ocean Bank

In a closely contested battle at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center, the Florida International Panthers emerged victorious over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers with a final score of 85-83. The Panthers now hold an impressive record, while the Hilltoppers' record took a hit with this loss. The game was marked by its competitive nature, evidenced by four times tied and four lead changes throughout.

Florida International Panthers VS Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

The Florida International Panthers showcased their defensive skills with eight blocks and managed to secure 37 rebounds against the Hilltoppers' 43. Offensively, they were equally impressive, converting half of their field goal attempts from both inside and outside the arc. Their three-point shooting was particularly effective as they made 14 out of 28 attempts, translating to a solid fifty percent success rate from downtown.

The home team's ability to distribute the ball was on full display as they tallied up eighteen assists over the course of the game. This teamwork helped them maintain an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.2 despite committing fifteen turnovers themselves. The Panthers also capitalized on opportunities provided by turnovers, scoring fourteen points off those committed by Western Kentucky.

On offense for Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, fifty percent shooting from two-point range and forty-six percent overall field goal percentage showed their capability to keep pace with their opponents in scoring efficiency. They also excelled in second-chance points with twenty-one compared to nine by Florida International.

However, it was not enough as Florida International's balanced attack proved too much for them down the stretch. The Panthers' free throw performance saw them making nine out of fifteen attempts which contributed crucially to their narrow win margin.

Looking ahead for fans of Florida International Panthers is an away game against UTEP Miners at Don Haskins Center in El Paso on March 7th at 8:00 PM Central Time (9:00 PM Eastern). This matchup will be available for viewing on ESPN+ through internet broadcast networks.
