The Florida State Seminoles, after a hard-fought battle at Cassell Coliseum, fell to the Virginia Tech Hokies with a final score of 83-75. The Seminoles now hold a record of 0-1, while the Hokies have started their season with a 1-0 mark.

The game was characterized by intense competition and frequent lead changes, with the score tied seven times throughout. Despite the Seminoles' robust offensive efforts that led to them shooting an impressive 53 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc, it wasn't enough to secure victory on enemy territory. The team's two-point shooting was particularly effective, hitting at a rate of 59 percent.

Florida State's defense managed to block four shots and steal the ball ten times from their opponents. However, they struggled under the boards with only six offensive rebounds compared to Virginia Tech's eleven. This discrepancy contributed to fewer second-chance points for Florida State (6) than for Virginia Tech (10).

On offense, Florida State showed balance in their attack with thirty points coming from inside the paint and twenty-four points contributed by three-pointers made. Their free throw performance was less stellar; they made nineteen out of twenty-nine attempts which translates into a free throw percentage of sixty-six.

Discipline on court posed an issue for both teams as personal fouls were abundant; Florida State committed twenty-six while Virginia Tech had twenty-one. This high foul count resulted in one player from Florida State being fouled out during play.

Looking ahead after this tough loss on February 14th at Blacksburg's Cassell Coliseum before an attendance of eight thousand nine hundred twenty-five fans, fans can anticipate seeing how Florida State will regroup as they prepare for their next challenge.

The upcoming game for the Seminoles is set against Duke Blue Devils at Donald L. Tucker Civic Center located in Tallahassee on February 17th at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. Fans eager to support can tune into ESPN channel two hundred six where this encounter will be nationally broadcasted live.
