Seminoles' Late Surge Falls Short Against Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum
The Florida State Seminoles, with a record of 0-0, faced off against the Clemson Tigers in a closely contested battle that ultimately saw the Seminoles fall short by a score of 63-74. The game was marked by intense competition and pivotal moments that could have swung the outcome in either direction.
At Littlejohn Coliseum, the Florida State Seminoles demonstrated resilience and determination. Despite trailing at halftime with 28 points to Clemson's 38, they managed to outscore their opponents in points off turnovers, notching up 18 compared to Clemson's 14. The Seminoles also showed their defensive capabilities with an impressive tally of 11 steals over the course of the game.
The offensive efforts were led by aggressive plays resulting in 32 points scored inside the paint. However, shooting from beyond the arc proved challenging for FSU as they converted only four out of nineteen attempts, culminating in a three-point shooting percentage of just twenty-one percent. On two-point attempts, they fared better with forty-four percent accuracy but still fell behind Clemson's more efficient fifty-seven percent.
Free throws were another area where FSU showed competence; they made seventy-three percent of their shots from the charity stripe. This was an area where precision mattered most and helped keep them within striking distance throughout much of the contest.
Rebounding was nearly even between both teams; however, FSU edged out slightly with thirty-six rebounds to Clemson's thirty-nine. Of those for FSU, twelve were on offense which contributed to thirteen second-chance points – reflecting their tenacity on both ends of the court.
Despite these efforts and leading at certain junctures – there were five lead changes throughout – it wasn't enough to secure victory against a solid Tigers team who capitalized on nine blocks and maintained composure under pressure.
As fans look ahead after this tough loss on foreign ground, attention turns back home where preparations are underway for an upcoming encounter.
