First Half

The first half saw both teams battling for dominance on the court. The Noles managed to take an early lead thanks to their effective shooting and strong defensive plays. Florida State's Thomas Bassong contributed significantly with his scoring ability, helping the team secure 34 points by halftime. Meanwhile, Wake Forest kept pace by capitalizing on fast break opportunities and ended the half just three points behind.

Second Half

As play resumed after halftime, both teams intensified their efforts. The Tribe maintained their momentum through strategic plays and consistent free throw shooting—achieving an impressive 90 percent from the line overall. However, turnovers began to plague Florida State's performance as they committed a total of 16 throughout the game.

Final Moments

In an intense final stretch marked by multiple lead changes and ties—11 and five respectively—the Deacons managed to edge out ahead in part due to their superior rebounding efforts totaling 28 compared to FSU’s 44 but more impactful offensive rebounds that led directly into second-chance points for Wake Forest.

Despite valiant attempts from players like Chauncey Wiggins who scored crucial baskets late into regulation time; it was ultimately not enough as Wake secured victory through disciplined execution during critical possessions down towards closing minutes securing them this hard-fought win over FSU.
