Can Florida State Seminoles Overcome SMU Mustangs' Early Lead at Moody Coliseum?

The Florida State Seminoles faced off against the SMU Mustangs in a tightly contested game at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs emerged victorious with an 83-80 win, improving their record to 1-0, while the Seminoles fell to 0-1. Despite a strong second-half performance by the Noles, they couldn't overcome the early lead established by SMU.

First Half


The first half saw the Mustangs take control early on, scoring 46 points compared to Florida State's 34. The Ponies capitalized on their shooting accuracy, achieving a field goal percentage of 44 percent. Their ability to convert free throws also played a crucial role as they made 17 out of their attempted shots from the line.


Second Half


In contrast, the second half belonged largely to Florida State as they mounted an impressive comeback attempt with Robert McCray V leading the charge. McCray contributed significantly with his playmaking skills and scored key points that helped close down SMU’s lead. The Tribe managed to score 46 points in this period but ultimately fell short by just three points.
