Fresno State Bulldogs to Battle Boise State Broncos at Save Mart Center

As the Fresno State Bulldogs prepare to host the Boise State Broncos at the Save Mart Center, fans are eager for what promises to be a riveting matchup. The Bulldogs have been on a rollercoaster this season, with performances that have both thrilled and disappointed their loyal supporters.

In their last game on December 23 against the San Francisco Dons, Fresno State struggled defensively, allowing 77 points and suffering from a low assists turnover ratio of 0.33. Their three-point shooting was particularly lackluster at just 17 percent. This defeat highlighted several areas in need of improvement if they are to stand any chance against the formidable Broncos.

However, it's not all doom and gloom for Fresno State. In an earlier game on December 19 against Portland State Vikings, despite losing in overtime with a final score of 72-75, they showed resilience by pushing the game beyond regulation time. They boasted a stronger two-point field goal percentage of around 53 percent and managed to outscore their opponents in points from turnovers.

The Bulldogs' performance against Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners on December 16 offers some hope for fans looking forward to the upcoming game. They secured a narrow victory with strong showings in paint scoring (36 points) and an impressive two-point field goal percentage of approximately 68 percent.

What stands out is that when Fresno plays at home as they will be doing against Boise State, there seems to be an extra spark in their playstyle – perhaps fueled by the roaring crowd at Save Mart Center. This home-court advantage could prove crucial when facing BSU.

Boise State comes into this matchup with its own set of strengths that FRES must counteract effectively. The Broncos' ability to execute plays and maintain possession will challenge FRES's defense which has shown vulnerability under pressure.

For FRES to emerge victorious, they must capitalize on fast breaks while tightening up their perimeter defense to reduce BSU's scoring opportunities from beyond the arc – an area where previous opponents have found success against them.

The scheduled clash between these two teams is set for January 23rd at Save Mart Center starting at 7:30 PM local time (PST). Fans can catch all the action live on Fox Sports 1 channel number 219 or attend in person for what promises to be an electrifying evening of college basketball excellence.
