Will the Bulldogs Outrun the Rebels at Save Mart Center?

As the Fresno State Bulldogs prepare to host the UNLV Runnin' Rebels at Save Mart Center, fans are eager to see if their team can bounce back from a string of challenging games. The Bulldogs have shown both resilience and areas for improvement in their recent matchups, which will be critical as they face a formidable opponent.

Fresno State Bulldogs VS UNLV Rebels

In their last game on December 23 against San Francisco, FRES struggled defensively, allowing 77 points and succumbing to an aggressive Dons offense that boasted a 52 percent three-point shooting accuracy. The Bulldogs' own three-point performance was lackluster at 17 percent, a statistic they'll need to enhance if they hope to keep pace with UNLV's dynamic scoring.

However, it wasn't all gloom for FRES; there were flashes of brilliance in their inside game. They managed an impressive 63 percent two-point field goal percentage and scored 30 points in the paint. This strength down low is something the Bulldogs must capitalize on against UNLV.

The December 19 game against Portland State showed FRES's tenacity as they pushed through overtime despite falling short by just three points. Their two-point field goal percentage remained strong at 52 percent, and they improved their assists turnover ratio slightly compared to the San Francisco game.

Against Cal State Bakersfield on December 16, FRES eked out a win with solid defense and efficient scoring inside—showcasing a whopping 68 percent from two-point range—and will look to replicate this success.

The upcoming clash with UNLV presents an opportunity for redemption. The Runnin' Rebels come into this matchup with confidence but must be wary of FRES's ability to control the paint and convert close-range baskets efficiently. If Fresno State can tighten up its perimeter defense and maintain its interior dominance while improving beyond-the-arc shooting accuracy, fans could witness a turnaround performance that reinvigorates their season aspirations.

Supporters should mark their calendars for February 14 at Save Mart Center where tip-off is scheduled for February 14th at eight o'clock PM Pacific Time (PT). For those unable to attend in person, CBS Sports Network will broadcast all live-action on channel number two hundred twenty-one so no one misses out on what promises to be an enthralling encounter between these conference rivals.
