Georgia Bulldogs Dominate Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers in Men's Basketball Showdown at Stegeman Coliseum

In a display of offensive firepower, the Georgia Bulldogs outscored the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers 94-82 at Stegeman Coliseum. The home team's record now stands at an impressive 2-0, while the visiting team falls to a challenging 1-1 season start.

The Bulldogs started strong with a first-half performance that saw them rack up 45 points against the Mountaineers' 34. The second half was no different as they added another 49 points to their tally, while their opponents managed to score 48. Georgia’s offense was firing on all cylinders with an overall field goal percentage of around 52 percent and an exceptional free throw percentage of approximately 82 percent.


Georgia’s players showcased remarkable efficiency from beyond the arc, converting seven out of nineteen three-point attempts which translates to about a solid 37 percent success rate. Inside the paint, they were equally effective, matching their opponents with a total of 44 points in that area.


Defensively, the Bulldogs were tenacious as well; they came away with eleven steals and two blocks during the game. Their defensive efforts also led to twenty points off turnovers compared to eighteen by the Mountaineers.


Mount St. Mary's did not go down without a fight though; they boasted an impressive two-point field goal percentage of approximately 68 percent and made about half of their total field goal attempts. They also capitalized on fast-break opportunities scoring fifteen fast break points but fell short in comparison to Georgia’s twenty-two.


The rebounding battle was closely contested with both teams grabbing nearly thirty rebounds each – twenty-nine for Georgia and thirty for Mount St. Mary's – showcasing how evenly matched these teams were on the boards.
