At the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida, fans witnessed an intense battle where lead changes occurred seven times and the score was tied on eight occasions. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets showcased a robust offensive performance with a field goal percentage of 48 and were particularly lethal from beyond the arc, hitting 44 percent of their three-point attempts. Their precision from the free-throw line was impeccable as they made all five of their attempts.


The team's offensive efforts were complemented by an impressive display on defense and under the boards. The Yellow Jackets tallied two blocks and four steals while dominating rebounds with a total count of 41 compared to their opponents' 34. Of these rebounds, thirty-eight were personal rebounds which played a crucial role in maintaining possession and creating second-chance opportunities that resulted in nine points.

Georgia Tech's teamwork shone through as they racked up twenty-two assists over the course of play, demonstrating effective ball movement against Miami's defense. This cohesive play led to twenty-eight points scored in the paint which underscored their ability to penetrate Miami's defensive setup.


Despite committing thirteen personal fouls and turning over possession twelve times, Georgia Tech maintained composure throughout both halves scoring forty-five points before halftime followed by thirty-five points after.

On the other side, despite falling short on home turf at Watsco Center before an attendance of seven thousand nine hundred six spectators, Miami (FL) Hurricanes put up a valiant fight. They managed to block more shots than Georgia Tech with three blocks but had fewer steals at six for this encounter. Their shooting accuracy stood at forty-two percent from field goals overall but only fifty percent from free throws which could have been pivotal in such a tight game.
