Cougars Dominate at Fertitta Center Against Golden Eagles

In a commanding display of basketball, the Houston Cougars outplayed the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles with a final score of 83-45. The Cougars, ranked third nationally, showcased their dominance throughout the game, improving their record to an impressive 3-0. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles struggled to find their rhythm and fell to a record of 0-3.

The Fertitta Center in Houston was buzzing with excitement as 7,246 fans witnessed the Cougars' prowess on their home court. The first half set the tone for what was to come as Houston put up an impressive 51 points against Oral Roberts' 24. The second half saw no let-up from the home team as they added another 32 points while limiting their opponents to just 21.


Houston's shooting efficiency was a key factor in their victory; they shot an outstanding 52 percent from field goals and were particularly effective from inside the arc with a two-point percentage of nearly 59 percent. Their defense also stepped up by making five blocks and stealing possession five times from Oral Roberts.

The Cougars dominated in rebounds with a total of 52 compared to just 30 by Oral Roberts. This included an overwhelming number of defensive rebounds at thirty-three which helped limit second-chance points for the visitors. Additionally, Houston capitalized on turnovers scoring sixteen points off turnovers while only allowing thirteen.


Oral Roberts had difficulty finding baskets throughout the game; they made only fourteen field goals out of sixty-two attempts resulting in a low field goal percentage around twenty-three percent. From beyond the arc, they managed eight three-pointers but at an inefficient rate of twenty-one percent.
