In a game that was as close as they come, the Houston Cougars displayed formidable skill at Schollmaier Arena. Despite falling short by one point in their latest encounter against the Horned Frogs, there were numerous standout moments for the team from Houston. The Cougars' defense was particularly noteworthy; they amassed seven blocks and matched that number in steals. Their aggressive play resulted in twenty-four personal fouls but it did not deter them from maintaining a strong defensive front throughout the game.

Offensively, Houston showed balance and efficiency inside the paint with forty points coming from that area alone. They attempted forty-six two-point shots and successfully made half of them. Although their three-point shooting was less effective at twenty-two percent accuracy, making just four out of eighteen attempts, it did not diminish their overall field goal percentage which stood at a respectable forty-two percent.

The team's ability to share the ball was evident with fifteen assists on record for this game. This teamwork led to an assist-turnover ratio of 3.0 – showcasing their careful handling and distribution of the basketball despite committing seven turnovers themselves.

Rebounding played a crucial role for both teams; however, it was here that Houston demonstrated its dominance on both ends of the court with thirty-eight total rebounds—twenty-two being defensive and thirteen offensive rebounds contributing to thirteen second-chance points.

Looking ahead after this nail-biting contest, fans can mark their calendars for an exciting home matchup as the Houston Cougars are set to host Texas Tech Red Raiders at Fertitta Center on January 17th at 7:00 PM local time (Central Time). This upcoming game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU channel 208 where supporters can tune in to follow all live-action from what promises to be another captivating display by their beloved team.
