The first half saw an intense battle as both teams exchanged leads multiple times. The Coogs managed to pull ahead by halftime with a score of 37-31. Joseph Tugler was another standout performer for Houston, demonstrating remarkable efficiency by converting all his shots into points and securing vital rebounds that kept momentum on their side. His defensive presence also contributed two blocks that thwarted key scoring opportunities for BYU.
