The Illinois team showcased a solid performance on both ends of the court. They dominated the rebounding battle, grabbing a total of 55 rebounds compared to Rutgers' 27. The offensive efforts were spearheaded by their accuracy from beyond the arc, as they converted nine out of 21 three-point attempts, translating to an impressive 43 percent success rate from long range. Inside the paint was another area where Illinois excelled; they racked up 40 points, underscoring their effective interior play.

Defensively, Illinois was just as formidable. They managed to block four shots and steal possession three times over the course of play. This defensive hustle contributed to them scoring 12 points off turnovers and adding another dozen through fast breaks. Their ability to convert opportunities into points was evident in their second-chance points tally as well; they scored 14 following offensive rebounds.

On individual performances for Illinois, it wasn't just about scoring but also about facilitating play; evidenced by their collection of 12 assists throughout the game. Despite committing more personal fouls than Rutgers—20 compared to Rutgers'17—they managed this aggressive defense without any player being fouled out or ejected.

Rutgers had moments where they shined defensively with nine blocks and nine steals but struggled offensively throughout most parts of the game. They shot only around one-third from both field goal range (33 percent) and two-point range (30 percent). However, they did manage better precision from three-point land hitting six out of thirteen attempts for approximately a 46 percent completion rate.

As fans look ahead for The Illinois Fighting Illini's next challenge will be against Florida Atlantic Owls at Madison Square Garden in New York City on December fifth at six thirty PM Eastern Time Zone broadcasted nationally on ESPN channel two hundred and six.
