First Half


In the opening half, Illinois quickly established their superiority by scoring 46 points compared to Southern University's 25. The Illini's defense was particularly effective, limiting the Jaguars' shooting percentage to just 35 percent from the field. Southern University struggled against Illinois’ relentless pressure and could not close the gap despite some spirited efforts from their bench players who contributed a total of 29 points. However, it was not enough to counteract Illinois’ well-rounded performance.
