Iowa Hawkeyes Face Setback at James H. Hilton Coliseum Against Iowa State Cyclones

In a contest of collegiate basketball, the Iowa Hawkeyes were outscored by the Iowa State Cyclones with a final tally of 90-65. The Hawkeyes now stand with an additional loss to their record, while the Cyclones celebrate another victory.

Iowa Hawkeyes VS Iowa State Cyclones

The game unfolded at James H. Hilton Coliseum where 14,267 spectators witnessed the home team, the Cyclones, take control early on and maintain their lead throughout. The first half saw the Hawkeyes put up 29 points against the Cyclones' dominant 47 points performance. In an attempt to rally back in the second half, Iowa managed to add 36 points but it was not enough to close down on their opponent's consistent scoring that added another 43 points.

The Hawkeyes showcased determination as they fought for every point. Their free throw accuracy was notable with an impressive 81 percent completion rate from the line. However, struggles from beyond the arc were evident as they converted only eight out of twenty-six three-point attempts which amounted to a mere 31 percent success rate.

On defense, Iowa managed nine steals and blocked three shots but this defensive effort could not stifle the offensive onslaught by their counterparts who amassed six blocks and twelve steals in return. The rebounding battle was also lost by Iowa who gathered a total of thirty-three rebounds compared to thirty-six by their opponents.

Offensively for Iowa, two-point field goals were made at a rate of forty-five percent which contributed significantly to their eighteen points in paint; however this paled in comparison to forty-six paint points scored by Cyclones who shot fifty-five percent from two-point range.

Despite turning over possession nineteen times themselves, Iowa capitalized on turnovers scoring nine points off them while also adding eleven second-chance points thanks largely due to eight offensive rebounds secured during play.

Looking ahead for fans of The University of Iowa's team: The next challenge awaits when Michigan Wolverines visit Carver-Hawkeye Arena on December 10th at 3:30 PM local time (4:30 PM EST). This matchup will be broadcast nationally on BTN channel number six hundred ten for those unable or preferring not attend in person within vibrant city limits of Iowa City.
