Iowa Hawkeyes Face Setback at Pinnacle Bank Arena Against Nebraska Cornhuskers

The Iowa Hawkeyes, after a hard-fought battle at Pinnacle Bank Arena, fell short against the Nebraska Cornhuskers with a final score of 66-50. The Hawkeyes now stand with an overall record of 0-1, while the Cornhuskers have kicked off their season with a 1-0 start.

Iowa Hawkeyes VS Nebraska Cornhuskers

In what was a challenging game for the Iowa team, they managed to accumulate 50 points over two halves. The first half saw them score 26 points, but they were unable to maintain that pace in the second half, adding only an additional 24 points. Despite their efforts, the team's shooting percentages were low; field goal attempts resulted in just a 26 percent success rate and three-point attempts were not much better at 25 percent.

The Hawkeyes did show some resilience on defense with seven steals and four blocks during the game. They also outperformed their opponents in terms of assists, delivering twelve assists over Nebraska's fourteen. However, personal fouls proved costly for Iowa as they racked up fourteen compared to Nebraska's twelve.

Rebounding was one area where the Hawkeyes excelled; they secured forty rebounds including thirteen offensive boards which contributed to ten second-chance points. Their effort in this aspect was commendable but it wasn't enough to turn the tide of the game.

On offense, two-point shots seemed particularly challenging for Iowa as they made only twelve out of forty-five attempts resulting in about twenty-seven percent accuracy. Free throws offered some respite with five successful shots from eight attempts translating into roughly sixty-three percent accuracy.

Nebraska Cornhuskers capitalized on their home advantage and put up stronger numbers across several metrics. They scored sixty-six points throughout the game and had higher shooting percentages than Iowa across all categories: forty-one percent from field goals and thirty-six percent from beyond the arc.

The upcoming schedule has Iowa facing off against Penn State Nittany Lions at Bryce Jordan Center on January 1st at 5:30 PM Eastern Time (ET). Fans can catch this match-up live on BTN channel six hundred ten as both teams look forward to starting off their new year's campaign.
