Hawkeyes Soar Over Wolverines in High-Scoring Duel at Crisler Center

In a display of offensive firepower, the Iowa Hawkeyes outpaced the Michigan Wolverines with an 88-78 victory. The Hawkeyes' season record now stands at an impressive 18-2, while the Wolverines fall to a more modest 12-8. The first half saw the Hawkeyes put up 42 points to the Wolverines' 44, but it was in the second half where Iowa pulled ahead with an additional 46 points to Michigan's 34.

The Hawkeyes showcased their scoring efficiency by making 31 out of their total 58 field goal attempts, translating to a solid field goal percentage of fifty-three percent. Their prowess from beyond the arc was evident as well; they sank eight out of sixteen three-point attempts, hitting fifty percent from long range. Notably perfect from the free-throw line, Iowa capitalized on all eighteen free throw opportunities.


Iowa's defense also played a key role in their win. They amassed six blocks and five steals over the course of play. On top of that defensive pressure, they managed to limit turnovers significantly with only eleven for the game and maintained a positive assist-to-turnover ratio at one point four.


The team's rebounding efforts were led by personal rebounds totaling twenty-seven, contributing to twenty-nine overall team rebounds. Of these rebounds, seven were on offense which helped provide second-chance scoring opportunities resulting in ten second-chance points.


A standout statistic for Iowa was their ability to capitalize on turnovers; they scored fifteen points off turnovers compared to nine by Michigan. Additionally, they dominated inside with thirty-four points in paint versus twenty-six by their opponents.


On Michigan's side despite falling short in scoring compared to Iowa's eighty-eight points tallying seventy-eight themselves - showed commendable ball distribution with eighteen assists and kept turnovers low at nine for this matchup.
