Their free throw accuracy was notable as well, with an impressive 78 percent completion rate from the line. Dominating inside, Iowa scored 40 points in the paint and capitalized on turnovers by adding another 14 points to their tally.

Defensively, Iowa managed to block two Spartan shots and steal possession three times throughout the contest. They were also able to out-rebound Michigan State by securing a total of 35 rebounds – one more than their opponents – which included six offensive boards leading to five second-chance points.

The team's distribution of the ball was effective; they tallied up 17 assists which contributed significantly to their scoring efforts. Despite committing six turnovers themselves, they maintained an assists turnover ratio of 4.25 showing good control over ball-handling responsibilities.

On Michigan State's side, despite falling short on overall field goal percentage at just under half at 45 percent and struggling from the free-throw line with only half made, they showed proficiency from beyond the arc hitting ten three-pointers for a solid fifty percent conversion rate from long range. Their fast break execution resulted in twelve fast break points but it wasn't enough to overcome Iowa's consistent performance throughout both halves.
