Game Highlights

The game was marked by several standout performances from the Hawkeyes, particularly from Payton Sandfort and Josh Dix. Sandfort led the team in scoring with 17 points, demonstrating his versatility by contributing across various statistical categories including rebounds and steals. His performance was complemented by Dix's 16 points, four assists, and notable defensive efforts that included two blocks and a steal. These contributions were pivotal in securing the win for Iowa.

Brock Harding also made significant contributions with 15 points and three assists. His shooting accuracy was on display as he hit crucial shots that kept the momentum in favor of the Hawkeyes throughout the game.

On defense, Iowa showcased their ability to disrupt Ohio State's offense with six blocks and five steals. This defensive pressure limited Ohio State's scoring opportunities and played a key role in maintaining Iowa's lead.

Opposition Efforts

The Buckeyes put up a strong fight, with their efforts highlighted by effective paint scoring that accounted for 34 of their total points. Despite trailing behind in field goal percentage at 42 percent compared to Iowa's efficient 55 percent shooting from the field, Ohio State managed to keep pace through aggressive rebounding which saw them out-rebound Iowa with a total of 31 rebounds.

Ohio State also capitalized on turnovers, converting them into 17 points off turnovers compared to nine for Iowa. However, despite these efforts and leading at times during the game due to fast break points matching those of Iowa at seven each, they were unable to overcome Iowa’s strategic playmaking and execution down the stretch.
