Can the Cyclones Maintain Momentum After Narrow Victory at Schollmaier Arena?

The Iowa State Cyclones, ranked 24th, edged out a nail-biting victory against the 19th-ranked Horned Frogs with a final score of 73-72. The Cyclones now hold an impressive record, while the Horned Frogs stand at their own commendable tally. The game was held at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Cyclones showcased a robust defensive performance with an astounding 18 steals and four blocks. Their offense was equally impressive, with the team distributing the ball effectively to rack up 18 assists. A significant contributor to their scoring was their ability to capitalize on turnovers, scoring 36 points off of them.


Iowa State's aggressive play led to them drawing fouls and getting to the free-throw line for a total of 13 attempts but converting only eight into points with a free throw percentage of about 62 percent. They also demonstrated efficiency from inside the arc by making 22 out of their total two-point attempts which accounted for over half of their field goal attempts.


The team's rebounding efforts were split evenly between offense and defense with each category securing eleven rebounds. This balance helped them maintain possession and create second-chance opportunities that resulted in fourteen additional points.


On the other side, TCU Horned Frogs put up an intense fight in front of their home crowd totaling an attendance figure of seven thousand seven hundred thirty-nine spectators. They excelled in fast-break situations where they scored twenty-two fast break points and showed remarkable accuracy from two-point range hitting about sixty-one percent from inside.


Despite this effort by TCU, it was not enough as Iowa State's tenacity saw them through until the end without any player being fouled out or ejected during this conference game encounter.
