Cyclones Narrowly Outscored by Bears in a Razor-Edge Encounter at Foster Pavilion

In a closely contested battle, the Iowa State Cyclones, ranked 12th, faced off against the 18th-ranked Baylor Bears. The Cyclones entered the game with an impressive record but fell just short in their latest outing, succumbing to the Bears with a final score of 68-70. The Cyclones' season record now stands at an admirable number-number.


Iowa State Cyclones VS Baylor Bears

The Iowa State Cyclones showcased their defensive skills with ten steals and five blocks throughout the game. Their offense was equally active, contributing ten assists and securing 31 rebounds. Despite these efforts, they were unable to overcome Baylor's defense which managed four blocks and eight steals.


The first half saw the Cyclones put up 28 points against Baylor's strong start of 40 points. However, in a dramatic second half turnaround, Iowa State outscored Baylor by ten points but it wasn't enough to clinch victory.


Iowa State's shooting accuracy from within the arc was recorded at forty percent after making seventeen out of forty-two attempts. From beyond the arc, they managed thirty-six percent accuracy with five three-pointers made from fourteen attempts. Free throw opportunities were plentiful for both teams; however, Iowa State converted nineteen out of thirty-two free throws which amounted to fifty-nine percent success rate.


Offensively speaking for Iowa State Cyclones: twenty points came from inside paint while twelve were second chance points; notably twenty-six points resulted from turnovers by Baylor Bears who had committed twenty turnovers compared to eleven by Iowa State.


The Bears' performance was marked by precision from long range as they hit twelve three-pointers at an impressive fifty-two percent rate and maintained overall field goal percentage of forty-six percent. Their free throw performance stood out as well with seventy percent accuracy that contributed significantly to their narrow victory over the visiting team.


As for personal fouls committed during this intense conference game – there were plenty on both sides – twenty-two for Iowa State and twenty-three for Baylor respectively; however only one player fouled out during playtime which belonged to ISU side.
