Cyclones Set to Swirl Past Red Raiders in Ames Showdown

As the Iowa State Cyclones prepare to host the Texas Tech Red Raiders at James H. Hilton Coliseum, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling encounter. The Cyclones, coming off a string of dominant performances, look poised to continue their winning ways.

In their last game on December 22 against Eastern Illinois Panthers, the Cyclones displayed an offensive masterclass with an 80-48 victory. Their shooting was nothing short of spectacular; they hit 48 percent from the field and an impressive 44 percent from beyond the arc. Not only did they showcase their scoring prowess, but they also demonstrated a strong defensive front by limiting their opponents to just 39 percent shooting.

The Cyclones' ability to control the game was evident in their assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.5, which speaks volumes about their playmaking and ball security. With such a commanding performance that included six steals and three blocks, it's clear that ISU is not just about offense; they have a well-rounded game that could prove too much for Texas Tech.

Looking back further into the season, ISU's display against Florida A&M Rattlers on December 17 was another testament to their strength. They put up an incredible 96 points while holding FAMU to just 58 points – showcasing both ends of the court once again with a field goal percentage of nearly 60 and converting half of their three-point attempts.

Perhaps most impressive is how ISU has been capitalizing on opponents' mistakes; against Prairie View A&M Panthers on December 10th, they turned turnovers into an astounding 34 points while also dominating second-chance opportunities with 24 points off rebounds.

While it's important not to overlook TTU – who will undoubtedly come prepared – there's something special about this Cyclone squad that suggests they'll be able to handle whatever is thrown at them. The Red Raiders will need more than just grit if they hope to upset ISU in front of what will surely be a raucous home crowd eager for another win.

As fans gear up for February 17th at James H. Hilton Coliseum where tip-off is set for noon local time (5:00 PM GMT), all eyes will be on whether ISU can maintain its high-octane offense while stifling TTU’s advances defensively. Those unable or unwilling to brave Ames’ winter can catch all the action live on ESPN+, where every dribble and dunk will be broadcasted as these two teams battle it out on court.
